MIX CDs
Posted on January 16th, 2009
These are some old mix CDs I’ve made over the last couple years. My hard drive crapped out in 2005, so anything before that is basically lost. Once again another reason why real media is better than computer data. Hopefully I will be able to track down physical copies of some of the older stuff and put it up here someday. Some of these were commissioned, some were for fun, and some were for specific themed projects.
If anyone has copies my older CDs, Let me know, because I would love to get copies of them again.

2008 MIX CD
This was done around Feb 08 fashion week, as a promotional thing (self promotion that it). It’s a party mix, it’s pretty house-y, and it’s pretty decent. It’s one of the only ones from the last year that I really listened to a lot after making. It’s got a lot of good disco and italo tracks on it.

OCT 08 KENNETH COLE MIX
This is a CD I made last fall trying to get a gig playing a Kenneth Cole event. I tried to be as mainstream as I could, but I think it was still a little too weird. It was supposed to be a global rock and roll dance mix, whatever that means, but I think it ended up more of just a new wave and disco mix.

AUG 08 ENK MIXS
These are two CDs I did for the “Blue” denim trade show, and men’s fashion week last summer. They were atmosphere music for the trade show. The first is a mix of mainly new or recent house music, leaning more towards to cosmic side. Pretty straight forward, Space Disco, I guess is the word for it… The second one is….. let’s just say, all over the place. Keep in mind these are all supposed to be background music.

JULY 08 SUMMER JAM
It was really fuckin’ hot in July. This was just me having some fun with records when it was too hot to go outside or even put cloths on. Half of it is songs about being hot, and half is just stuff I was jammin too that day.

2008 HIP HOP MIX
I made this CD so that I could have some rap music to listen to at work. I can’t remember exactly when I made it but it was when Passerby was still open and I was still working there, so sometime before March of last year. It’s a bunch of my favorite hip hop songs. Mainly from the mid 90’s but a couple new jams also.

SUMMER 06 THE KOBRA PIT SESSIONS VOL 1
The Kobra pit sessions…. the Neon Kobra summer mix from two years ago. Me and Manderson were mixing records at my old place while the lady upstairs was banging on my ceiling the whole time. This CD was given out for free at our Friday the 13th party at Passerby. This was the summer that we were spinning at the basement space of Sensei on Kenmare st. This mix is a classic, the intro still cracks me up every time. Stay tuned for Vol 2. as well as the “Art Haus” mix.

APRIL 04 STONED
Drunk vs. Stoned was an Art show at Gavin Brown’s Enterprise in April 2004. For the show I made a double mix CD, one disc being “drunk” and one “stoned”. I made a package for it, and it was sold at the show as an edition of 50. Of course I made the mistake of not keeping one for myself, assuming the original was safe on my hard drive…. now I back everything I really want on 3 drives. I found a copy of “Stoned” but, “Drunk” I think is gone forever. That’s ok because Stoned in my opinion was the better disc. “Freedom Vibe” is definitely ringing loud and clear on this one.
